Less well-known than the famous vineyards of the south of France, namely the AOC Pic Saint Loup wines and the AOC Corbières wines , Fitou wine is nevertheless the oldest AOC appellation in Languedoc-Roussillon.
Neighboring the Corbières massif while being closer to the Mediterranean Sea, the Fitou vineyard is subject to the typical wind of the region, the Tramontane. This cold, dry and powerful wind helps to “clean” the sky of these clouds, and thus offers the vines ideal sunshine.
Part of the Heritage range, which brings together the iconic wines of the Occitanie region , the An 990 Fitou vintage is carefully produced to reveal all the characteristics of its terroir. An 990 Fitou refers to the date of the first written trace of the Fitou estate.

If we look in more detail at the tasting of this Gérard Bertrand wine, this Héritage 990 vintage ranks among the best Fitou wines .
Its beautiful garnet color invites tasting, its nose reveals aromas of ripe fruits, spices and blackcurrant buds. On the palate, the balance is perfect, with a velvety grain and very soft tannins. A bottle of Fitou AOC is ideally served at a temperature of 18°C.
For a successful food and wine pairing, you can accompany a glass of Fitou wine with grilled meats and more generally with strong dishes based on beef or game.
