Royal Eagle Chardonnay 2020
Domaine de l'Aigle is a 47-hectare property beautifully located in the northernmost part of the Haute Vallée de l'Aude vineyard, between 250 and 500 meters above sea level. We produce wines of great finesse from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
The Viala 2020
Le Viala comes from a plot of Château Laville Bertrou, located on an exceptional terroir within the very high-quality Livinière appellation (officially recognized in 1998), synonymous with great Languedoc wines.
This extraordinary terroir, acquired by Gérard Bertrand in 1997, produces powerful and distinctive wines that have won awards. Benefiting from a Mediterranean, semi-arid climate with a temperate winter variation, Viala faces due south on the heights of the village of La Livinière at an altitude of around 120 m. The soil is made up of a mosaic of stripped marl, associated with calcareous sandstones, as well as compact limestone dating from the Eocene (Tertiary era).
This type of terroir naturally limits the production of each vine, and allows, thanks to deep rooting, to resist low rainfall and water stress. The slow ripening of the grapes is thus encouraged thanks to the significant sunshine. The three grape varieties assembled for this vintage express in a complementary and nuanced way this unique terroir that is Viala.
Hospitalitas 2020
Overlooking the Mediterranean by a hundred meters, the Château l'Hospitalet vineyard benefits from exceptional climatic conditions (semi-arid Mediterranean climate, with mild winter variant). The heat and sunshine, mitigated by the altitudinal gradient, offer possibilities for slow maturation from September to October, favorable to the aromatic expression and the finesse of the tannins. The Hospitalitas plot, located in the heart of the vineyard, at the base of a 30-meter cliff that protects it from the north wind, benefits from a microclimate.
The exceptional character of this vintage comes from the fact that the plot is located on the two terroirs that make up our vineyard: the marl-limestone soils of the Gargasian, rich in fossils, which provide the vines with a water supply throughout the summer despite the absence of summer rain; the Mediterranean red soils of the Barremian formed on the compact blue-grey limestone conquered from the scrubland, which allow the production of rich and concentrated wines. The blend of these two grape varieties gives this vintage a beautiful aromatic expression, a tonicity and a remarkable aptitude for aging, fruit and roundness.
